Ex-Legora founders raise $2.5M from a16z Speedrun for Athena, an AI-native CRE law firm
Athena, founded by former Legora employees Cem Ucan and Kieran John Keenan, raised a $2.5 million pre-seed led by a16z Speedrun, The Next Web reported on November 3, 2026. Its proprietary AI agents work alongside attorneys at affiliated law firm Athena Circle on commercial real estate acquisitions, sales and financing, with fixed-fee pricing the company says is typically 30-50% below what clients paid on recent deals. Two months after launch Athena had signed 22 clients and, in its first six weeks, cut attorney review time by more than 70% according to the founders.
CRE investors get a fixed-fee, AI-native legal service built for deal speed rather than another AI tool sold into billable-hour law firms.
