Benefit Street Partners portfolio manager builds a credit agreement analyzer and BDC mark tracker with Codex
In an OpenAI customer story, Anant Kumar, a portfolio manager at credit-focused investment manager Benefit Street Partners, describes building his own tools with Codex. A tracker built from public BDC filings compares how different holders value the same loan; the first version took about a day. A credit agreement analyzer, built on law-firm memos about risky clauses, produces a first-pass analysis of a long credit agreement in about 20 minutes, followed by an hour or more of human review. Kumar says analysts can now answer investment committee follow-up questions in a day, often during the meeting itself.
A private credit PM building his own underwriting tools shows where coding agents fit: covenant and clause review and peer mark comparison, with humans making the call.
