SEC's FY2027 exam priorities list emerging technologies, including AI, alongside private funds and private credit
The SEC's Division of Examinations published its fiscal year 2027 examination priorities on October 23, 2026, covering more than 34,000 registrants. Its focus areas include private funds, private credit and other complex strategies, investment advisers' fiduciary obligations, and emerging technologies, including super intelligence and other advanced technologies that may affect market operations, compliance, fraud prevention and investor protection.
Advisers and private fund managers using AI in research, operations or client work should expect examiners to ask how those tools are governed in FY2027 exams.
