Aldaron launches transformation-equity PE firm embedding AI engineers in portfolio companies, announces majority stake in Oak Point Partners
On October 15, 2026, Aldaron launched as a transformation-equity firm that combines control-oriented private investing with forward-deployed AI engineers. Co-founded by Jay Grewal (ex-Palantir commercial), Evan Mendez (ex-Carlyle US tech buyouts) and Will Oberndorf, the firm embeds a Deployment Team of engineers and investors inside portfolio companies to apply AI to operations. It also announced a majority equity investment in Oak Point Partners, completed in March 2026; Oak Point buys remnant assets and Aldaron is adding AI/ML to asset discovery across 1,000+ channels. The Wall Street Journal separately reported that founders said the debut fund closed with roughly $885 million in commitments.
A PE model that sells AI engineering embedded in portfolio companies, not just capital, which is relevant to how sponsors operationalize AI after close.
