Compound publishes PE Bench, a benchmark of AI agents doing private equity analyst work from data room to IC memo
Compound, which sells an AI analyst for finance teams, published PE Bench, a benchmark that gives AI agents a deal's documents (legal agreements, PDF financials, a CIM) and asks for the work an analyst would produce: diligence cuts, an investment model, and the IC memo and deck. Each case is either a take-private built from public filings or a private-company diligence built from a data room whose documents contradict each other in places. The first batch has 58 prompts written by former private and growth equity investors, and it runs agents as they ship (Compound plus Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and Muse). Compound says its own agent scores above the cost and performance frontier of the lab agents; that is the vendor's result.
A deal-shaped test of whether agents can produce IC-standard models and memos gives PE teams a concrete way to compare tools, though this one is run by a vendor that competes in it.
